Our Practice

Wakefield Vision Care boasts a rich legacy, beginning in 1929 when it was founded by Dr. Eugene Seavey in Wakefield’s Greenwood district. In 1972, his son, Dr. Forrest Seavey, relocated the practice to its current downtown Wakefield location at 22 Yale Avenue, where it continues to thrive.

The building at 22 Yale Avenue holds unique historical significance. Constructed in 1880 by Dr. Bouvier, it has consistently housed a practicing physician. Designed with two front entrances—one for Dr. Bouvier’s residence and one for his medical practice—the building served as a hub for minor surgeries and childbirth. Local stories recall evenings filled with the sound of Dr. Bouvier’s accordion drifting from his porch in a neighborhood once home to many doctors and lawyers.

The practice eventually transitioned to optometric care and was started by Dr. Eugene Seavey in the Greenwood district of Wakefield in 1929. His son, Forrest Seavey, took over for the senior Dr. Seavey after moving the practice to its present location in downtown Wakefield in 1972, where it has been since.

In 2024, Dr. Vann was carefully chosen as a successor to preserve the practice’s traditions. With her extensive clinical expertise and patient-centered approach, she was selected to carry forward the legacy while expanding care to meet patients’ evolving needs.
